So the 29er is on the verge of going to paint. I built it up with the parts package and took her out for a short spin. • The most exciting news is that I got two inquiries about Reynolds 953 custom cyclocross frames.
The 29′er frame is essentially finished. I need to lightly brush over a few of the fillets with some sandpaper, remove some of the surface rust with hydrochloric acid, and she’d basically be done after that.
Today, I should be getting the re-do of the waterjetted parts from Skaaly. That will encompass the head tube badge and down tube logos, which I’ll silver-braze to the frame next weekend.
There’s been a little touch of class I’ve been wanting to build for the first batch of frames, and with the 29′er completion fast approaching, I decided to hop to it. I’ve got a 2-foot by 2-foot sheet of 22-gauge T-304 stainless with a nice brush finish waiting for me over at Discount Steel. And I’ve got waterjetting arranged for.
