About

Heritage and Methods

I’m apprenticing with Paul Wyganowski, who studied under Terry Osell and Tim Paterek.  I believe that that is an awesome lineage to follow on.  While working with steel, I will only build lugged and fillet brazed frames, with the front-end built jigless to prevent residual stress in the frame.  This involves very careful, slow processes with a granite reference slab to ensure a frame that is properly aligned, stress free, and engineered to last.  I am not a production builder, and I am not fast: the old adage about two ways to do things “the fast way and the right way” applies.  I will not rush any frame.

About the Builder

I’m in my late 30′s.  I live in Northeast Minneapolis and I’m surrounded by a group of excellent framebuilders, and smack-dab in the middle of an awe-inspiring bicycle community.  Pretty awesome, huh?  There’s more.  I have a decent job in e-marketing, a kick-ass fiancee, and an armada of cats.  Life has taken me all over the world — having nomadic parents and a stint in the Army will do that — and I’ve been lucky enough to put my feet to ground in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.  I’ve raced bicycles on-and-off since I was 15 — road, mountain, BMX, and cyclocross.  I’ll be trying the track in 2010.

Citizenship

I am a strong believer that a company should endeavor to be a good citizen. While I am not currently in the position to sponsor riders or races (though I’d like to do both someday), or even non-cycling events, I do plan to do some of those things in the future. Right now, and going forward, I will donate $25 out of every frameset sold to Home for Life®, a long-term sanctuary for special needs animals.
